The 5th in my original “Double Vision” vase family is the new “Shoji”. Inspired by Japanese paper art, this piece combines African ebony, American holly and authentic Japanese shoji paper. The shoji material is made of a 3 part laminate of high quality paper, and an inner polyester core, which provides both rigidity and durability (paper cannot be torn). The vase combines complexity of structure, with basic forms and incorporates on-board LED’s for a beautiful illumination of light through the outer silhouette. This is the only wood turned vase in the world which combines woods and shoji. 11” x 9”. 71 pcs. This piece was chosen for the back cover of the American Woodturner Magazine April 2019.
